In October, state and local authorities of the Tomsk region replied to 1000 questions asked on social networks

In October, specialists from the departments of the Administration of the Tomsk region, as well as those of local authorities of the region, answered more than 1000 questions and user requests on social networks.

“A special information system helps to find appeals of citizens that require a quick response, more and more questions are coming to the official accounts of the Administration of the Tomsk region. Over the year, the number of processed messages has tripled, while, unlike traditional forms, the answer is usually given not within a month, but within 4-6 hours. This is a very important systematic work for the authorities, which we are improving, first of all, in terms of speed and quality of response,” said Alexey Sevostyanov, Head of the Information Policy Department of the Tomsk Region Administration.

In the past month, most often users of social networks wrote about problems in the areas of housing and communal services, improvement and repair of roads. Some issues were also related to the work of public transport, the implementation of MSW reform, medical services, and security. Residents of Tomsk, Seversk, Strezhevoy, Asino, Kozhevnikovo and Kolpashevo areas most actively address the authorities in social networks.

In order to answer citizens' questions, the Information Policy Department attracts specialists from all relevant regional structures and municipal administrations, depending on the nature of the appeal.

“This is largely informal work, so officials still have to get used to the fact that some problems can be solved like this, not through regulations and months-long paper correspondence, but through ordinary human communication,” said Alexey Sevostyanov. “For instance, recently a resident of Tomsk, an expectant mother, expressed doubts in a popular VKontakte group about the correctness of the treatment prescribed to her in a clinic, and then complained of deterioration of health. The Department of Health contacted her, a doctor consulted the patient at home and answered all the questions."

After appeals in social networks, unauthorized landfills were removed, hatches on roads were closed, play elements on playgrounds were repaired, the heat supply parameters of an apartment building were adjusted, and a bench was installed in Strezhevoy at the entrance where a labor veteran lives. Specialists also advised users on relations with the Criminal Code, obtaining social support, participation in landscaping events, and answered other questions.
