Governor Sergey Zhvachkin and WorldSkills winners discussed the future of vocational professions

Today, October 4, Sergey Zhvachkin, Governor of the Tomsk region, met in the regional administration with the winners of WorldSkills world and national championships and prize-winners of Skills of the Wise national championship.
The meeting was attended by Umar Getagazov, the winner of the World Championship in Web Technologies among juniors, Nikita Guzeev and Gennady Kovalenko, the winners of the World Championship in the Development of Solutions Using Blockchain Technologies, Valentin Muravyov, the winner of national championship in Dry Construction and Plastering Competition, Polina Kidyarova, the winner of the national championship among juniors in "Cooking". The participants also included Elena Stepanova and Tatyana Efremova, bronze medalists of national championship “Skills of the Wise”, mentors and parents of the guys.
Participants of the most prestigious competitions of vocational professions shared their impressions of the event with the Governor, and discussed the prospects of vocational education (which celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2020) in the Tomsk region. Yuri Kalinyuk, Head of Department of Vocational Education, spoke about the prospects at the meeting.
“Technical schools and vocational education institutions are not a stepping stone to the university, although some will definitely continue their studies at the university, and this is great. I believe that technical schools and vocational education institutions should train self-sufficient high-class professionals for industry and the social sphere,” Sergey Zhvachkin, Governor of Tomsk region emphasized at the meeting.
The head of the region awarded the winners of WorldSkills and their mentors.
“If you think that after graduating from vocational education institution you stop learning, then you are mistaken. In this fast-paced world, we all learn every day. And so do I,” added the Tomsk Governor.
