It is planned to establish the Service and transportation company (STK) in the Tomsk region in 2019 to develop unmanned aviation within the frameworks of Taiga project launched by the Governor Sergey Zhvachkin.
This was announced today, June 28th, by Aleksandr Osadchenko, Head of Department for Development of Innovations and Entrepreneurship at International Military and Technology Forum ARMY-2019 in the Moscow region.
STK will be organizing flights, solve problems in the context of existing regulations, and form a stock of orders for Tomsk companies. Alongside this, within the frameworks of the project, work will be done to create pilot area infrastructure and remove regulatory barriers. The delivery of Taiga project by 2023 shall be integration of drones in the general air space.
“The Tomsk region has all the prerequisites for this work: the region has impenetrable forests, swamp terrain, inaccessible territories. Moreover, we have a concentration of fuel and energy complex facilities, agricultural and environmentally protected zones that demand monitoring and regular maintenance. We also have qualified specialists, developers and interested consumers of air drone systems,” said Aleksandr Osadchenko at the forum.
Federal project Taiga was launched in Tomsk during the meeting of interdepartmental task force of Russian Military and Industry Commission Board on July 10, 2018 held by Oleg Martyanov, Board member and Governor Sergey Zhvachkin. In August, the Tomsk region Governor, Board members and Fund for Prospective Research signed the project roadmap until year 2023.
The first two stages of the project ending in June 2019 stipulate the creation of a pilot area, identification of requirements of companies in air drone services, stage three is operation of the pilot area.
