The students of Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building won in IV International contest for architectural and design solutions Steel2Real – 2019 in Architectural solution category.
The final of the contest took place at Manezh museum and exhibition space (Moscow), where Aleksandra Dyatlova and Taisiya Rekun, students of the architecture department, presented Wonder Wood, their kindergarten designed for 240 people.
The main objective of Steel2Real – 2019 was to create a steel-frame-based kindergarten design. After the on-line elimination round, there were applications in the Architectural solution category from 200 students from 70 universities of Russia, and only three teams got the chance to present their works at the final stage in Moscow.
“It was the third time that TSUAB presented its works at Steel2Real. This contest gathers the leading building universities in Russia, and for us it is important to confirm the high level of Tomsk student architects once again”, stressed Maksim Artamonov, academic adviser and senior teacher at the Architectural Design Department.
Steel2Real is organized by the Association for Steel Construction Development (ASCD). The TSUAB architects’s kindergarten has round shape. All the kindergarten premises (group halls, administrative part, leisure areas for choreography, sports and music) have access to the common center – an under-the-roof patio. The inside is made of metal frame and wood.
