Tomsk Governor to support agricultural start ups

Sergey Zhvachkin, Governor of the Tomsk region, has approved grant allocation procedure Agrostart-up aimed at creating and development of farms.
As a reminder, head of the region expressed his intention to stimulate agricultural start-ups during the Rural gathering in April. As early as this year, according to resolution of Tomsk Region Administration, the contest committee will select the best projects on creating new farms and workplaces in rural areas.
Focus on farming is one of the main criteria for the competitive selection. Priority is given to beef farming. Milk production goes second, third is the breeding of goats, sheep, rabbits, horses, poultry, honeybees, fish and growing of berries. The contest committee will evaluate how much money the grant applicant intends to provide themselves for the project, the number of workplaces created, whether the budding farmer has suitable agricultural land, cattle, machines, etc.
The Governor noted that the new support mechanism will be provided within the frameworks of “Small and medium entrepreneurship, and support for sole proprietorship” national project.
“As I had promised to our country folk, we supplement various state support programs for agricultural industry with new grants called Agrostart-up, which will support initiative newcomers realise their ideas, create new workplaces in rural settlements,” said Sergey Zhvachkin, Governor of the Tomsk region. “Before the end of this year, we will have supported seven budding farmers, each of whom will receive three million roubles. I invite you to participate in the contest!”
