Air pollutant emissions in 2017 dropped 12.7% year-to-year.
This was noted in the state report “On the condition and conservation of the environment in the Tomsk region in 2017” as well as in the draft state report “On the condition and conservation of the environment in Russia in 2017”.
Omsk region is the leader among SFD regions in terms of outdoor air quality - maximum permissible concentration of pollutants was not exceeded in its territory
According to the published data, the amount of emissions in the Tomsk region in 2017 was 262.97 thousand tons, in 2016 – 301.36 thousand tons. The reduction is due to the implementation of associated gas utilization programs, reduced oil and gas production in the region.
According to the draft report by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, in the period of 2010-2017 there was significant reduction of air pollutant emissions in the Tomsk region (17.5%) and the Novosibirsk region (12.3%), while emissions increased in Buryatia (30.3%) and Khakassia (12.4%).
Due to massive reconstruction, widening and construction of major roads, the quality of outdoor air improved significantly in the regional center as well – since 2012, atmosphere pollution index in Tomsk dropped by six points and reached five points in 2017.
